One week from now we will be in sunny Florida for a much needed vacation. While we are very excited to go on vacation, there is nothing worse than the days leading up to vacation. I am really not interested in working at all next week. I wish we could just take off now and get going on vacation immediately.
Since there was absolutely beautiful weather today, I decided to go out and hit some golf balls at the driving range. Nothing makes me more excited about the spring than being able to go outdoors and do stuff like playing golf and going to the park with Lily. Not that many people care, but I was really killing the ball today at the driving range. I haven’t really played much golf since my parents moved to Florida, so I was surprised that I hit the ball so well.
I am going to the eye doctor to get an eye exam tomorrow. I have gone several months without contact lenses and it’s really a pain. I have an old pair of disposible contact lenses that I have been reusing for six months now and they’re awful. I only put them in when I go to the gym and I take them out as soon as I get home. After tomorrow, I’ll be able to get some fresh lenses that I can wear all the time. It’s going to work out perfectly because I’ll have contacts for when we’re in Florida so I can wear my cool sunglasses that I bought last year when we were there.
In case you can’t tell, I really don’t have that much to talk about. Life is boring in our house. I’ll stop wasting everyone’s time and stop typing now. Pray for the Tigers please.
Hi there. I just looked and it’s been a few days since I’ve posted anything here. We’ve just been enjoying the holidays and our extended vacation. Unfortunately, my extended vacation is over and I’m back to work tomorrow. We’ve had a good time these past couple of weeks and I’m definitely feeling well rested and ready to go back to work. I’ll probably feel that way until midway through the day on Thursday when I’ll be sick of work again and wishing I was still on vacation.
My parents joined us for the holidays, which was nice for us. They weren’t thrilled about leaving sunny Florida for frozen Michigan, but Lily provided the necessary motivation.
Lily really enjoyed Christmas. She wanted to unwrap all of the presents herself and she ended up “helping” most of us unwrap our gifts. She got a big pile of stuff and we enjoyed watching her play with her new toys. After we opened presents, we left for Grand Rapids for a few days. We stayed with Angela because her house was empty and there was a lot more room than our tiny two bedroom apartment.
I would go into more details about the past few days, but I’m tired and the alarm is going to go off in the morning for the first time in nearly two weeks. I’m uploading almost 200 pictures dating back to Halloween to my Flickr page, so go there and check them out.
We had a really great time on our vacation up north. It was very nice to spend a couple of days without a schedule and just doing whatever we wanted to do. It was fun for me to show Cassie many of the places we visited when I was a kid. We vacationed in Michigan almost every year of my life growing up, so I’ve seen a lot of the coolest places in this state.
Cassie and I went a little crazy with the digital camera and ended up taking almost 200 pictures in 4 days. I’ve uploaded them to my Flickr page and I’ve created a set of all of our pictures from the trip. Below are some examples of why you should never volunteer to wear funny hats when a camera is nearby.

Cassie and I leave tomorrow for a well deserved, albeit short, vacation. This will be Cassie’s first trip to Mackinac Island and our first extended trip without Lily. Cassie seemed to be fine with leaving Lily for 4 days when we were planning the trip, but I think she’s going to have a tough time saying goodbye tomorrow morning when we drop her off at the baby sitter’s house.
We’ll also be venturing into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is always an experience. Anytime you get to interact with Yoopers is fun. We’ll be visiting tahquamenon falls and the shipwreck museum.
Since I’ve been averaging one blog post a week, I don’t think things will slow down very much more on the blog. I’m sure we’ll take plenty of pictures and I’ll try to upload them when we get back on Saturday afternoon. (Don’t hold your breath since I haven’t uploaded pictures of Lily’s birthday or our trip to the zoo on Memorial Day.)
On a completely different note, I’ve been emailing a Saturn salesman who thinks he can get us a deal on a Saturn Aura sedan which is a beautiful car. I’m very excited about that possibility.
So we have been back from our short vacation to Florida for a couple of days and we’re starting to get back in to our normal routine. It was a great weekend and I wish we were still there. The sun and the beaches were really nice considering it is still pretty chilly here in Michigan. We managed to cram a lot of activity in to just a couple of days. Being down there made me realize how much I miss my parents. It’s one thing when they come to visit us, because I’m at home and I’m comfortable there. But being in their house and spending time with them away from my comfort zone showed me how much I really miss having them around.
I have thoughts on the Virginia Tech shootings, but I don’t want to share them now.
