19SepTalk Like a Pirate Day

Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and in honor of this special occasion, I’ve pirate-ified my blog for the day.  Hopefully it’s as funny to you as it is to me.

Avast, me matey!

10SepI’m Not Talking About the Wolverines

So a lot has been going on lately, which I use as an excuse for why I haven’t updated a lot recently.  I’ve been very busy with my leadership responsibilities in Reality and with being a husband and dad.  Reality is having our annual retreat this upcoming weekend and I’m very excited to see what is going to happen.  Our guests are Shane and Kathryn Marquis who I hear are awesome people who operate a lot in the prophetic.  Hopefully their freedom in the Spirit will rub off on all of us, I know I can use it.  We’ve also got lots of fun and thoughtful activities planned and we’re hoping it’s going to be a life-changing event.

Things in our life (both Cassie and I) are pretty crazy right now.  We had pretty much given up on moving to Florida to run the Salvation Army Community Center in Bradenton, until last Friday when the pastor down there contacted us and expressed his interest in meeting with us.  It just so happened that Cassie and I had just found a really nice house that is for sale at a very reasonable price here in Michigan.  On top of that, my big promotion that was supposed to be coming very soon seems to be taking forever.  I’ve basically been promised this job, but the higher-ups seem reluctant to move forward and actually do anything.  So we’re basically stuck until something else happens.  Sometimes I wish God would just write His will for us in big giant letters in the sky.  That would really simplify things.

I don’t want to talk sports right now, but let me say it’s a sad day for Detroit when the Lions are the best thing going in town.

Cassie is gone all night because she is undergoing a sleep study at the University of Michigan Sleep Disorder Center.  I’m looking forward to having the bed all too myself, I am not looking forward to getting up extra early to take Lily to daycare in the morning.

If you want to keep up with my daily activities for some strange reason, you could follow me on Twitter at http://twitter.com/philhull.  It’s my new toy and I’m updating it several times a day plus it updates my status on Facebook too.  If you have a Twitter account, let me know because I’m looking for friends to follow on there.

Peace out, yo.

14AugDuct Tape Bandit

I heard the funniest story on the radio this morning. I guy in Kentucky decided that he was going to rob a liquor store. As you can see from the picture, he wrapped his face in duct tape to “disguise” himself. What he didn’t count on was that the liquor store employees and customers would fight back when he tried to rob the store.

I can’t decide which is my favorite part of the story. I find it hilarious that he wrapped his face in duct tape, and I would pay money to watch him pull it all off. I find it funnier that his whole take for this grand caper was “two rolls of change.” Maybe the funniest part of the whole story is that he pleaded not guilty to the charges. As Sean Baligian pointed out on the radio this morning, couldn’t they just ask, “Isn’t that duct tape all over your head?”

31JulI’d better be careful

I guess I’m at risk of electrocution. Let’s go over my risk factors:

  1. Sweats profusely…check
  2. Likes to take apart the computer…check
  3. Doesn’t pay attention where legs are going…check
  4. Electrocuted…not yet

17JulWhat have I been doing?

I haven’t really been that busy, so I guess there’s no excuse for me to have taken over 10 days to post something here.

I’ve just finished reading through the first six Harry Potter books in anticipation of the upcoming release of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Cassie and I are also planning to go to see the movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix this week, but that’s up in the air as of now.

Why is it up in the air? Cassie is really sick and has been for several days. She’s been running a fever and has a really sore throat. Last night she was burning up and running a temp of over 103, but she was shivering like it was 20 degrees in our apartment. I was a little nervous because she was feeling so strange. I didn’t know what to do to help her, so I just prayed for her and asked God to do what I couldn’t. It seemed to help because she calmed down and stopped shivering severely. I just talked to her a while ago and she said she was feeling better today, but she’s still home from work today resting up.

In other news, my manager told us last week that he is transferring to another site within our company at the end of the month. I was surprised by the news, but even more surprised when he recommended that I apply for his job. I’m waiting to hear more about the possibility, but it could end up being a very good opportunity for us. Plus, I would get to hire and train my replacement which I think would be very cool.

We signed up for Blockbuster Online over the weekend because we realized how bad television is during the summer. Plus we rarely make it out to the movies anymore, so this will give us a chance to get caught up on many movies that have come out since Lily was born.

Last thing for today, go out and buy the new album by The Rocket Summer, Do You Feel, which comes out today. It’s a great listen, plus Bryce Avary is really cool and has been struggling to make it for a long time. Support good music made by good people!
