26NovI’m Done with MySpace

I have decided that I no longer want to have anything to do with MySpace.  I deleted my MySpace profile and I will no longer visit that site in the future.  I think Facebook is a far superior site for social networking and has much better features for tracking your friends activities on the site.  I was only checking MySpace about once a week, and when I did, it was for a few minutes.  Most of the fields in my profile contained my rants about how bad MySpace is, so I figured that it was just time to be done.  If you want to find me online, look on Facebook.

22DecLost In MySpace

I just finished reading a very interesting article from the New York Post (thanks to Relevant Magazine) where a reporter spent a week responding yes to every invitation and friend request on MySpace for 7 days. It’s very interesting and quite sad that so many people have turned to a crappy website like MySpace for human interaction. I’m always amazed at the advances in technology and how many ways there are for us to be connected. I’m also surprised at how despite all of these technological advances, we are more alone than ever.

I am guilty of this myself many times. I will send emails, text messages, and IMs instead of making a phone call or trying to meet someone in person. I think we all need to take a good hard look at where we are going to be in the not so distant future if we continue on this path. Will we reach a point where many of us have no face to face human contact whatsoever? I sure hope not.
