Hi there. I just looked and it’s been a few days since I’ve posted anything here. We’ve just been enjoying the holidays and our extended vacation. Unfortunately, my extended vacation is over and I’m back to work tomorrow. We’ve had a good time these past couple of weeks and I’m definitely feeling well rested and ready to go back to work. I’ll probably feel that way until midway through the day on Thursday when I’ll be sick of work again and wishing I was still on vacation.
My parents joined us for the holidays, which was nice for us. They weren’t thrilled about leaving sunny Florida for frozen Michigan, but Lily provided the necessary motivation.
Lily really enjoyed Christmas. She wanted to unwrap all of the presents herself and she ended up “helping” most of us unwrap our gifts. She got a big pile of stuff and we enjoyed watching her play with her new toys. After we opened presents, we left for Grand Rapids for a few days. We stayed with Angela because her house was empty and there was a lot more room than our tiny two bedroom apartment.
I would go into more details about the past few days, but I’m tired and the alarm is going to go off in the morning for the first time in nearly two weeks. I’m uploading almost 200 pictures dating back to Halloween to my Flickr page, so go there and check them out.
We’ve had a fun and relatively uneventful Thanksgiving weekend. We were in Grand Rapids on Thursday and Friday at my Uncle Kris’ house. We were able to spend a couple of days with my sister Angela and Cassie and I actually got out to see a movie. We saw Dan in Real Life and it was very good. Cassie was out early on Friday to get some good deals on some Christmas presents.
Speaking of Christmas presents, I found out what Cassie got me for Christmas thanks to our overly-curious daughter. Cassie was trying really hard to keep my Christmas present a secret even though it was in the car when we were driving back from Grand Rapids. She grabbed the bag and hid it in our apartment while I was unloading the car on Friday night.
Cassie went in to work for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon and I was home with Lily. I was on the phone and Lily wandered into our bedroom and saw a plastic bag under Cassie’s side of the bed. Lily has some weird attraction to plastic bags and pulled it out from under the bed. When I came to see what she was up to, I saw what Cassie had gotten me for Christmas. What is it? I don’t know if I feel like telling or not.
Pictures are up on Flickr if you want to take a look.
By the way, some anonymous person gave me a Flickr pro account for Christmas. I would like to thank whoever it was.
…and we’re ready for him to come tonight. It’s officially Lily’s first Christmas in about an hour.
We went to a Christmas party at my cousin Christy’s house this evening. It was nice to spend Christmas with my family after doing the past couple of Christmases with Cassie’s family. Tomorrow is going to be a quiet and lazy day around our house. We’re going to rest and enjoy ourselves at home. Merry Christmas to everyone! Be sure to take a minute, or hopefully more than just a minute, and give thanks to God for sending His son to earth and giving us the greatest gift that anyone has ever received.
So I got up today and drove to work like I usually do. I pulled in to the parking lot (where there are usually hundreds of cars) and saw maybe two dozen cars. Basically almost everyone I work with has gotten a jump start on their Christmas break. All of General Motors shuts down for the week between Christmas and New Year’s so everyone is off next week. The only bad part is that I depend on other people to stay busy in my job. I work in a copy center and I need stuff from other people to copy.
Today is the last day of the whole two jobs craziness. There are only two more days of Kettles to go. I am so ready for this to be over so I can enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
