12NovServer problems are fixed

I have fixed the problems that have messed up the site the past couple of days.  I was already getting fed up with my web hosting company, but then they refused to help me fix the problems with the site, so I switched to a new host, 000webhost.com.  So far I’ve been fairly impressed with the service, especially since it’s a free web host.  They have a ton of features available that most free hosts don’t include.  I’ve also switched the other sites that I provide hosting over to this server because I’ve been very happy with it over the past 24 hours.  If you’re in the market for a solid webhost that costs absolutely nothing, then click on the link above to sign up.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have signed up as an affiliate of 000webhost.com and signing up for hosting through the links I provide means I make $5 per signup.  Once you sign up, you can also become an affiliate and begin making some money as well.

02MarNo “www”

Something has gone a little haywire with my web server and it is denying anyone who uses ‘www’ before the ‘philhull.com’. I trust that the fine support people are working on the problem and that it will be fixed in no time. I’m sorry if anyone got the error page with pictures of scantilly clad women on the top, that was not my doing. I have emailed the support team and asked if they could remove the images from the error page.

28FebBack up and running

So life is back to normal around here for the time being. I upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress and I also did some tinkering with the database that stores all of the information for this blog. It caused a couple of problems and you may have seen a “WordPress Error” screen for a while. Thankfully I’ve fixed all of the bugs and everything should be smooth sailing from here.

Here are some random thoughts for today:

  1. The Red Wings have made a couple of really good trades the past couple of days. They’ve added a couple of good, tough players without having to give up very much. I’m hoping that this will lead to a good playoff run and a decent chance to win the Stanley Cup.
  2. The guys performances on American Idol were 100% better than last week. The most improved performer was Sundance by a mile. He needs to stick with songs that suit his singing style. Cassie and I both think that Chris Richardson was the best of the night.
  3. I set up Google Apps for the Reality website last night. It’s a really cool way to use Gmail, Google Calendar, and other Google services using your own domain. So now everyone with an “@realitynow.info” email address has their own 2GB gmail account and Google calendar.

27FebSite maintenance

Things may be going a little haywire for the next couple of days while I do some work on the site. Please be patient with everything and I assure you that I will have everything back to normal as soon as possible.

29JanWelcome home!

So philhull.com is back live and it feels nice. I have been forwarding that domain to another blog hosted on wordpress.com for the past few months, but now I’ve found a great free webhost that gives me enough space and bandwith that I can put the site back out there on it’s own. I am a chronic tinkerer, and I need the flexibility to mess with stuff. I couldn’t really do that while having a blog on wordpress.com.

So I’m back home on the web and I’m staying here for a very long time. I know that this doesn’t mean a whole lot to everyone else, but I’m happy.
